Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung officially inaugurated 688 functional teacher officials at Jakarta Provincial Government, MH Thamrin Multipurpose Room, Grha Ali Sadikin, City Hall, Monday (3/3).

The inauguration is part of Jakarta Provincial Government's strategic step in increasing education quality. The inaugurated teachers are expected to provide maximum contribution in educating the next generation and improving human resources quality in Jakarta.

During his speech, Pramono emphasized the importance of teachers' role in preparing a globally competitive young generation.

"The inaugurated teachers are obliged to prepare our students human resources to become people who are competitive and able to compete ar a global level since Jakarta is a global city," Pramono said.

Pramono then highlighted Jakarta's status as a global city that is still in 74th position out of 156 cities. Improving the human resources quality through education could be the main key to improve the ranking significantly.

"I hope the rank will improve significantly by the end of my term. Human resources then need to be changed," he added.

Pramono also reminded the teachers and civil servants in Jakarta to serve residents with heart.

As for information, this inauguration is the first event for Governor Pramono Anung since being inaugurated on February 20 ago. As the son of a teacher, Pramono admitted, he chose this event as his first work agenda.

"For me, teacher is the one who is responsible for making human resources, especially in Jakarta, to be superior. I know how the real life of a teacher is," Pramono stated.
